Gigi Hadid was arrested for possession of cannabis while vacationing in the Cayman Islands, but she has since spoken out about the incident. The supermodel and her friend were arrested at the airport after customs officials allegedly found cannabis and utensils used for its consumption in their luggage. They were taken to the Royal Cayman Islands Detention Center but were later released on bail. Hadid and her friend appeared in court, pleaded guilty, and were fined $1,000 each.
In response to the incident, a representative for Hadid stated that she had been traveling with marijuana legally purchased in New York City with a medical license. The representative also mentioned that medical use of marijuana has been legal in Grand Cayman since 2017. Hadid addressed the situation on Instagram, sharing a collection of photos and videos from her vacation with the caption “All’s well that ends well.”
